A letter from Kris

Dear friends and neighbors. Once again, it is election time. These are difficult times. We are all a little battle weary. However, as Americans, we have the distinct privilege and responsibility to cast our ballot and participate in democracy. Once again I am stepping up by running for the position of Yamhill County Commissioner.

Unfortunately the issues are the same. Nothing has improved in our county. We still face present and future water shortages. Our friends and families are unemployed. Small businesses are failing. Our roads are crumbling. And … our Board of County Commissioners is paralyzed like a deer caught in headlights. They don’t know what to do anymore.

This is the twenty-first century. The game has changed. The status quo no longer works. This is an era demanding innovative ideas and real world experience. As your County Commissioner I will bring my real world experience, my economics background, my ability to get things done, my team working experience, my listening skills and my passion for Yamhill County to every issue facing the county. I will not act or plan in isolation. I will bring others to the table and listen to new ideas. I will reach out to our neighboring counties, our Oregon State legislators and lobby for Yamhill County. All of us can learn, plan and benefit from each other.

I will work to preserve our local businesses. I will strive to work with those who are unemployed or underemployed. I will work to maintain and create family wage jobs.

Our county budget is a mystery to most people. Where do our tax dollars go? How do we benefit from county services? Why are the County Administrative costs so high? Why are all the meetings held at times when working people are unable to attend? Who has the ear of the Commissioners; out of state interests, local developers, and local moneyed special interests? How can we get the answers to these questions?

I will push for fiscal responsibility and transparency. I will question every dollar, every service, and every decision as if the dollars were in my own bank account. That is because they ARE my dollars, they are YOUR dollars. When you do ask questions or testify regarding issues that are important to you I WILL HONOR YOUR VOICE. I WILL TREAT YOU WITH RESPECT.

If you want a County Commissioner who will stand up to special interests and lookout for you then I am your candidate. I have spent several years fighting out-of-area special interests that would put their profit above our future. They would destroy this county’s fragile natural resources and our agriculturally based economy. I will continue this fight as your next County Commissioner.

Yamhill County is a great place to live, work, and play and I want to keep it that way. There are many things that need to be done better. My opponent has been in office for two four-year terms. She has not demonstrated leadership. She has not responded to the community’s needs. She has shown us little reason to believe that she is up to the challenges that face this county. We need change, you deserve better. With your support we can make a positive difference, we can move this county forward.

Vote for me, Kris Bledsoe, on May 18th.

Sincerely,

Kris Bledsoe
